The 2nd Cross-strait Conference on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health 2011, organized by Planned Parenthood Association of Taiwan and supported by China Family Planning Association and the Family Association of Hong Kong, took place at NTUK International Convention Centre, Taipei on 11-12 June 2011. The conference provided a platform for sex educators, healthcare providers and policymakers from China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to share best practices and latest research studies for promoting adolescent sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

The 2-day conference attracted about 200 sex educators, youth workers, nurses, scholars and government officials from the four localities. FPAHK staff presented a paper on Hong Kong adolescents’ sexual knowledge and sexual attitudes, and highlighted the phenomena of “on-line dating” and “compensated dating”. A booth displaying FPAHK sexuality education resources was also set up at the venue. During a half-day visit to the Mercy Sex Counseling Center, overseas delegates were briefed with the education programs and youth SRH counselling services offered by this Center.

This Conference was first organized by China Family Planning Association in September 2009 in Ningbo, China. It was agreed that China, Hong Kong and Taiwan would take turns to organize the Conference every two years so that experts and resource persons from the three localities could continue to exchange ideas and learn from one another. FPAHK will host the 3rd Conference in 2013 in Hong Kong.
