Famplus2 Inter-University Sexuality Education Debate Competition (2008)

To enhance more discussion on the topics of sexuality, the youth volunteer team “Famplus2” launched the First Inter-University Debate Competition in 2008. Four debate teams from Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Education Institute participated in the competition.

A semi-final took place in Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 8th November 2008. The four teams debated for and against on two respective motions, “Government should legalize same-sex marriage” and “Government should launch the sexual conviction record check scheme”.

The Grand Final was held on 30th November during the Sex Culture Festival 2008. Two finalists, Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong debated for and against the motion of “Government should impose regulation on internet obscenity” Dr. Ng Man Lun, Dr. Elaine Tung and the lawyer Mr. Thomas Tse were invited to be the adjudicators of the competition. And finally, the Best Debate Awards were presented to the debate team of the City University of Hong Kong.
