2010 marked the Diamond Jubilee of FPAHK, which was established in 1950 in the aftermath of World War II. Highlights of the host of celebratory activities include:

1) Hosting the 4th Asian Conference on Sexuality Education, 12-14 August, at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. Noted as the first international academic conference in Hong Kong to spotlight the challenges and opportunities in sexuality education, the event brought together nearly 300 delegates, speakers and guests from over 20 countries for a series of plenary speeches, oral and post presentations, cultural performance, workshops, exhibition and field trip.

2) The ESEAO Regional meetings comprising Youth Forum, Executive Directors’ meeting, Executive Committee meeting and Regional Council meeting were held in Hong Kong from 15-17 August.

3) The Gala Dinner on 16 August was graced by the presence of Mrs Selina Tsang, wife of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, in her capacity as FPAHK’s Honorary President and Guest of Honour. It was an evening of joy and festivity as dignitaries, ESEAOR delegates, old and current friends and staff of FPAHK renewed acquaintances and enjoyed the performances by youth volunteers and women’s clubs members.

4) A commemorative video was produced to depict FPAHK’s major achievements and pay tribute to dedicated volunteers and staff for their contributions over the past decades.

5) FPAHK’s historical photos, posters, souvenirs, TV and radio advertisements, jingles, soundtracks, e-cards, as well as contraceptive devices and instruments were displayed at a media reception on 10 August.

6) Six original historical posters produced between 1952 and 1971 were donated to the Hong Kong Museum of History, with a presentation ceremony held on 1 November.

7) 600 pap tests at a discounted fee of HK$60 were offered to women born in 1950 on a first-come-first-served basis.

As the celebrations draw to a close, FPAHK looks forward to continuing to serve the people of Hong Kong with renewed energy, remaining YOUNG at Sixty!
