Hepatitis B Assessment

Service Content

Hepatitis B is caused by a virus which damages the liver cells and impairs liver function. After infection, some people become permanent carriers of the hepatitis B virus and are at risk of developing chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis or even liver cancer later in life. It is estimated that about 10% of the Hong Kong population are carriers. Hepatitis B carriers should undergo regular blood tests and imaging studies to monitor their liver conditions.

The Hepatitis B Assessment Clinic of the Family Planning Association of Hong Kong offers testing and follow up for clients who are Hepatitis B carriers. Drug treatments will be offered if indicated. This service accepts internal referrals and appointments only. Please phone 2919-7721 for enquiries and appointments.
