FPAHK’s new Kwai Fong Youth Health Care Centre (KFYHCC) was officially opened on 16 April 2015. The youth service was previously housed within the integrated Tsuen Wan Clinic, but has now moved to a new location dedicated to youths. Conveniently situated above a large and vibrant shopping mall - Metroplaza - served by mass transit railway and other forms of public transport, KFYHCC promises to be attractive and convenient for young people.

Ms Lina Yan, MH, JP, Chairman of FPAHK, presided at the opening ceremony with Dr Constance Chan, JP, Director of Health, as the officiating guest. In her welcoming address, Ms Yan pointed out that youth was a stage at which a person underwent tremendous physical and psychological changes. Faced with the flood of information in mass media, rapid changes in social values and the pressure of peer culture, young people often found themselves confused and frustrated. Education, guidance and support were indispensable to their future wellbeing. She said FPAHK was glad to see more parents caring for their children's development and health by accompanying them to seek counselling, health checkup and vaccination services. She also encouraged young people to approach their parents and teachers for advice and seek professional help promptly if needed. Dr Cheung Kai-bun, Vice-Chairman of FPAHK and Chairman of the Association’s Health Services Subcommittee, expressed gratitude to the Department of Health, Education Bureau, social services organizations, primary and secondary schools and district government and community organizations for their partnership and support of FPAHK’s work in promoting sexuality education and advocating youth sexual health.

FPAHK launched its youth sexuality education and counselling services in 1978 and opened the first YHCC in 1986. The service was the first of its kind in Hong Kong to offer integrated clinical and counselling services in sexual and reproductive health to unmarried youths aged below 26. FPAHK currently runs three YHCCs, located respectively in Wan Chai on Hong Kong island, Mongkok in Kowloon and Kwai Fong in the New Territories. Their services include contraceptive advice, emergency contraception, reproductive health checkup, HPV vaccination, termination of pregnancy counselling and referral, and sexuality counselling, etc. A total attendance of over 28,000 was recorded by the three service locations in 2014.
