Training Workshop on Youth Sexuality Education for visitors of Mainland China

19 teachers, students of tertiary educational institutions and medical staff from different provinces of Mainland China (Beijing, Xichun, Chengdu and Shenzhen) participated in the three-day training on youth sexuality education at FPAHK’s Headquarters. The objectives of the workshop were to enhance the necessary knowledge, skills, confidence and comfort level of participants to implement effective sexuality education programs for young people; and to increase their understanding about the resource materials, youth programs and services provided by FPAHK.

Group discussions, case studies, role-plays and experience sharing were used to discuss issues such as the role of sex educators, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, premarital sex and teenage pregnancy, sexual harassment, sexual messages in the media, etc. The participants also had an opportunity to observe a sexuality education program delivered by FPAHK’s Education Officer at a local secondary school. Apart from touring at FPAHK’s two libraries and Youth Health Care Centre, a field visit was arranged at the Hong Kong AIDS Foundation to familiarize the participates with local resources on promoting HIV/AIDS prevention.
