For application, couples must fulfill the following requirements:
- Holders of Hong Kong Identity Card;
- Planning for pregnancy and currently not pregnant;
- Reached 18 years old or above, and female applicant at childbearing age; and
- Meeting any of the following eligibility criteria:
- Two or more miscarriages, or have repeated fetal malformations / disabilities
- Previous unexplained fetal or neonatal conditions
- Consanguineous marriage (first and second degree relatives; the couple has a higher chance of having the same defective gene)
- Strong family history of intellectual disability, miscarriage or malformation
- Known ethnic groups of high risk of monogenic diseases
- Other high risk factors of having genetic disorders (e.g. thalassemia)
