FPAHK’s “Family Planning Knowledge, Attitude and Practice in Hong Kong Survey 2022” to reveal new trends

The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong (FPAHK) will hold a press conference to release the latest findings of the territory-wide Family Planning Knowledge, Attitude and Practice in Hong Kong Survey, which is conducted every five years by the FPAHK. Findings of the Survey 2022 regarding family planning, fertility, parity, contraception, abortion and sex among married and cohabiting Hong Kong couples will be presented.

According to the 2012 Survey of this Survey series, Hong Kong couples’ average number of children (parity) hit a new low at 1.2 and single-child families outnumbered two-children families for the first time. In the 2017 Survey, women with no or uncertain childbearing intention surged in proportion. In 2022, were “single-child families” still the mainstream? As Hong Kong’s total fertility rate hit the world’s lowest at only 0.772 in 2021 (Demographics, Census and Statistics Department), what are the factors affecting couples’ family planning?

Details of the Press Conference are as follows:
