FPAHK encourages students to make anti-sexual harassment short videos for ethnic minorities

The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong (FPAHK) launches the Breaking Racial Barriers: Educational Programme on Preventing Sexual Harassment Video Contest for Secondary School Students 2020/21. All secondary school students are encouraged to participate in this meaningful contest, which runs until 28 February 2021, tapping on their video making skills as well as creativity to help promote the prevention of sexual harassment among sexual minorities in Hong Kong.

Regardless of age, gender or race, learning how to tackle sexual harassment lays the foundation of self-protection and a society with equal opportunities. Nevertheless, educational resources for ethnic minorities regarding sexual harassment are limited due to language barriers. At the same time, cultural differences might deter ethnic minorities from seeking help.

In view of this, FPAHK organizes this contest under the sponsorship of the Equal Opportunities Commission’s “Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities” with the aim to embrace social inclusion and equality and promote the importance of prevention against sexual harassment targeting ethnic minorities. All full-time secondary schools students in Hong Kong are invited to enter this contest with a short video to help ethnic minorities understand the definition of sexual harassment, learn how to deal with it and ways to seek help, etc. The form of the videos can be, but are not limited to, interviews, micro movies, animations and documentaries, etc. The videos must not longer than 5 minutes in duration and any recording equipment can be used.

The videos can be in any language, but English subtitles are mandatory. Judging Criteria are:
content (30%), creativity (25%), visual & aesthetic sense (25%) and cultural sensitivity (20%). The submission deadline is 28 February 2021.

The public can also participate in voting for the “online popularity award” by giving “likes” to their favourite videos on FPAHK’s Sexuality Education Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/FPAHK.Education/ where selected entries will be available for viewing.

Attractive prizes include an iPad 32GB to the winner, and Muji gift vouchers of $1,000, $800 and $500 to the 1st runner up, 2nd runner up and Online Popularity Award winner respectively. The winning videos shall be used by the Association for promotion, support and exhibition.
