Is it harmful to masturbate? |
Far from it. Actually, masturbating is very normal and can be “useful” as it teaches you to understand how your body works and what feels nice for you, sexually. There are myths about what terrible things masturbation can do to you. Perhaps you have been told that it makes you go blind, or stops you from ever being able to make babies, sends you insane, damages your genitals, etc. Boys are also sometimes told that it “uses up” all their sperm. However, there has never been any medical evidence linking masturbation with infertility, mental illness or other health problem. Masturbation is generally safe as long as your fingers are clean, and you won't use any objects with sharp edges or anything made of glass or engna that might easily get hurt. |

Is it harmful to swallow the semen? |
The main ingredients in semen are water, simple sugars, alkaline substances (which neutralize the acidity of both a man's urethra and a woman's vagina), zinc, vitamin C, etc. Swallowing semen has no ill effects as long as you are both disease free and clean. For your interest, an ejaculation contains about 5 to 25 calories! |

I want to know the normal size of a penis for a boy aged 16...I think mine is pretty small… any statistics you can tell? |
There has never been any local clinical study done to measure the normal size of a penis and we can't provide any data for you at this moment. Believe it or not, on average most penises are about the same size when they are stiff. Most penises are about two or three inches when they are soft, and about six when they are hard. Sure, some people are going to have bigger ones, and some are going to have smaller ones, but bear in mind that the penis is an organ just like any parts of our body (e.g. eyes) that varies a lot from boy to boy, and there is NO right and wrong when it comes to penis size. So don't get too concerned about the size of your penis, as size isn't important. |

I am 14 and have had my period for two years now. I am a bit concerned with the size of my breast. They don't seem to get bigger. How come they are so small? How to make my bosoms bigger? |
The beginning of breast development is one of the earliest signs of puberty. There is no reason to worry because the timing of breast development varies greatly from girl to girl. Some start as early as 8, and some as late as 16, though in most girls, the breasts start budding between 9 and 12 years. In any case, your breast WILL develop in time for their purpose of breastfeeding. Female breast is the one body part that varies most of any body parts in size and shape. There is NO precise rule as to what is “normal” when it comes to breasts, and there is no reliable means of increasing your breast size. Bear in mind that your genes basically determine breast size. You can look to your mom or other female relatives and get an idea of how your breast size might end up being. Though you cannot change this inborn factor, some chest muscle exercises, along with a balanced diet and appropriate posture do help improve a bit the shape of your breasts. The best thing to do is learn to love yourself the way you are. Remember, all bosoms feel equally nice when they are touched, and no difference to breastfeeding. |

I'm a young woman, and wish to know where is my hymen? How deep is it located inside the vagina? When putting fingers inside the vagina, would it break the hymen? How can I know if my hymen is ruptured? Help! |
Hymen is a thin, perforated membrane that stretches over the opening of the vagina. This membrane does not close off but a hole [some hymen may have several holes] exists to allow menstrual fluid to flow. Some girls' hymen could be very thin and may have ruptured spontaneously due to indulging in sports. Some girls' hymen could be exceptionally thick and won't get torn even after having several times of sexual intercourse. The hymen could possibly get torn if you insert fingers or other objects inside the vagina. This may make you appear to be no longer a virgin - but if you have not had sexual intercourse, then you are. Remember, there are several ways a woman can break her hymen without having sex – and none of these ways change her virginal status. You can't tell whether the hymen is torn or not. The notion that all virgins bleed at the first time of sexual intercourse is just a myth. [Collins (1994): "Women's Health" , P.153]. |
