The Family Planning Association has been dedicated to advocating sexuality education in the local territory. We believe that sexuality is closely linked to our lives; comprehensive sexuality education is a part of all-round education which helps children and youth to enhance their well-being and develop good interpersonal relationship, and promotes sexual and reproductive health of individuals.

The Education Division has been providing sexuality education since 1970s. Various sexuality education programmes are offered to kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, tertiary institutes, as well as the general public. Regular training programmes targeting at teachers, parents, social workers and healthcare professionals are provided. A wide range of multi-media resources, resource centre and mobile classroom services are developed to provide teaching support for sex educators, serving over 70,000 people per year. In recent years, our association has been receiving various invitations to conduct sharing sessions and training workshops in China and Macau. Sexuality education is further promoted to the public through different media channels such as newspapers, magazines, radio station and the internet. In addition, we train up a group of young people and develop a youth volunteer team "Famplus2", using the approach of peer education to disseminate healthy sex-related messages among young people in the community.

Our work on sexuality education has been widely recognized in which several of our publications were selected as the recommended books at the Hong Kong Book Fair, including "Youth Diary on Puberty" (2004), " All about Sex: Youth Qs & As (I)" (2006), and "All about Sex: Youth Qs & As (II)" (2007). Moreover, the sexuality education website was elected as one of the ten most meritorious websites in 2009 by the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority (TELA). The drama performance" Sexuality Education Magic Theatre on Cyber Love" by our youth volunteer team "Famplus2 had won the Best Services Award (Children and Youth Services) sponsored by the Apple Daily Charitable Foundation in 2010.

Recent initiatives include the launching of a Youth Sexuality and Love Campaign (2008-2010), a Community Sexuality Education Project funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant (since 2008), as well as In-service Teacher Development Courses for Primary and Secondary School Teachers and Principals on Moral and Civic Education (Sexuality Education) jointly organized with Education Bureau (since 2003).To help the public better understand our sexuality education resources and services, we have participated in the Hong Kong Book Fair since 2003, participated in the International Baby & Children Products Expo in 2004 for the first time, and co-organized the Hong Kong Sex Cultural Festival since 2006.
