The
Family Planning Association has been dedicated to
advocating sexuality education in the local territory.
We believe that sexuality is closely linked to our
daily lives, the comprehensiveness of sexuality education
is a part of all-round education, and is vital to
the healthy psychosexual development of children and
youths. Sexuality education should be aimed at helping
children and youths to enhance their well-being and
establish good interpersonal relationship. It should
also be carried out corresponding to the needs of
the society.
The
Education Division has been providing sexuality education
since 1970s. School talks and various programs are
offered to primary and secondary schools, as well
as tertiary institutes. Regular training programs
are also provided targeting at teachers of pre-primary
schools, primary and secondary schools, parents, health
care workers and other professionals. To support these
educational activities, a wide range of multi-media
resources as well as library services are developed.
Recent initiatives including an Early Childhood Sexuality
Development Project sponsored by Quality Education
Fund, a Media-related Sexuality Education Project
sponsored by Television and Entertainment Licensing
Authority, a Parent Training Program on Sexuality
Education and Community Exhibitions supported by Parent
Education Implementation Grant of Education Department,
and an In-service Training Course for Primary and
Secondary School Teachers and Principals on Sexuality
Education jointly organized with Education Manpower
Bureau. In addition, we also train up a group of young
people and develop a youth volunteer team “Famplus
2”, using the approach of peer education to disseminate
healthy sex-related messages among young people in
the community. Recently we also joined hands with
different media such as newspapers, magazines, radio
station and the internet to further promote sexuality
education to the public.
