Pre-marital Check-up

Service Content

The FPAHK Pre-marital Check-up prepares about-to-wed couples for marriage with both medical and educational components. The service aims to help couples gain a better understanding of their health. If diseases are detected in their early or asymptomatic stage, especially diseases that are infectious or have serious effect on the next generation, treatment can be started at an early stage and therefore providing an important safeguard for the health of the couples and their future offspring. The FPAHK Pre-marital Check-up provides a wide range of medical laboratory tests (with additional charges) among which the followings are of greater concern to the general public: Hepatitis B, Thalassemia, Rubella, Rhesus Factor, and Sexually Transmissible Diseases.

Laboratory Tests	Blood Tests: complete blood picture, including red and white cell counts, haemoglobin, MCV and platelet count; blood group; Rh(D) factor; VDRL test for syphilis; Hepatitis B antigen and antibody tests Additional tests: For female: Rubella antibody test For male: Seminal analysis including sperm count, morphology and motility; semen volume and acidity
Basic Health Assessment (conducted by nurse)	． Explain laboratory reports ． Taking of personal and family medical history ． Measuring body mass index ． Urine analysis including urine glucose and protein ． Measuring blood pressure and pulse rate ． Providing birth control advices
Body Check-up	． Examination of thyroid, heart, abdomen ． Examination of reproductive organs by palpation (examination of pelvis and external genitalia for female; and penis and testicles for male)
